Bunseki ni yoru mahi [分析による麻痺]
As a novice, we need analysis to achieve the skill, but for it to work as a whole of the parts we need to stop the analysis and let the lizard take over and create “instinctual processes.”
If it fails when activated or triggered, we must avoid trying to analyze because that triggers paralysis. This happens when we achieve a well worn automatic behavior that executes under pressures, like self defense, analysis in that moment tends to lead us into a breakdown of the parts of what we learned to execute without thinking. It over-focuses our attention on the parts of a behavior that only function successfully as the sum of those parts resulting in paralysis by analysis 🧐. This can happen when some method or skill trips up further triggering “mind chatter.”
Learn the parts, practice analyze and practice, focus and practice, stop analysis and focus on results to the point it transcends the process into auto-instinctual action. Focus attention and let the method or skill flow without conscious thought.
Be deliberate and attentive and flexible and let self-talk relax in solitude (instinctual processes).
Work in progress!
