Hey, Attention on Deck!

When you begin to feel like you are a tough guy, a warrior, a master of the martial arts or that you have lived a tough life, just take a moment and get some perspective with the following:

I've clawed broken glass out of my body after their opening attack failed

I've survived being hunted by gangs, killers and contract killers

I am not a leading authority on any one discipline that I write about and teach, it is my hope and wish that with all the subjects I have studied it provides me an advantage point that I offer in as clear and cohesive writings as possible in introducing the matters in my materials. I hope to serve as one who inspires direction in the practitioner so they can go on to discover greater teachers and professionals that will build on this fundamental foundation. Find the authorities and synthesize a wholehearted and holistic concept, perception and belief that will not drive your practices but rather inspire them to evolve, grow and prosper. My efforts are born of those who are more experienced and knowledgable than I. I hope you find that path! Lost History of Isshinryu

Ushinawareta rekishi [失われた歴史]


Danger ⚠️! We are at the turning point of historical fact as to Tatsuo-san’s Isshinryu. The First-Gen’s are at that age where they will fade into history. We have discussions as to our history then debate it’s validity but the truth is “ALL HISTORY, regardless of its origins and the origins validity,” comes from “human memories” and as such is flawed, fallible and subject to a plethora of error prone recall. 


Even when documented in any form from writing it down to recording fist hand memories of those who were there. 


Where it disappears is when those with first hand experiences fades into the past and joins Tatsuo-San at those pearly gates.


Then those first-gen memories are replaced by, often flawed recorded memories, becomes “the one true history!”


Some have provided most excellent materials and memories such as on “Karate Friends” sites but many have provided none, little or to just a special handful of people leaving the one true history to fade where the new history will become one true and the real one true will be gone forever.


I would like to take this moment to beg, implore and request strongly that this first-gen’s like Advincula, Bartusevics, Mary, Sloane sensei’s either themselves or through others best able to record and publish all those memories and them make them available to our deshi or students or practitioner’s that wonderfully colorful history that began in the fifties of Tatsuo-san’s Karate called, “Isshin-ryu!”
