Taiyō to tsuki [太陽と月]
Go-kui II: "The circulatory rhythm of the body is similar to the cycle of the sun and the moon."
Sunrise - the birth of a new day. The sun promotes the flourishing of possibilities in the new day. Upon waking presents the opportune moment to meditate on the possibilities to learn and grow.
Sunset - the death of the day. The moon shines on the revitalization of life in our bodies and mind. Likened to sitting mokuso to contemplate on the days events so that the night of rebirth can encode new possibilities into one's subconscious.
No matter the training, no matter the mind games, and no matter the experiences: no one can realize that moment when the light goes out and the mind drifts away into the proverbial after-light.
Regardless, twice in a twenty-four hour period you can visualize and contemplate that moment and self-talk your way through that moment much like falling asleep where time ceases and passes in a blink till at sunrise when the moon fades with the dark and the sun rises to light another day you become conscious that your still here and readying for another opportunity of a brand new day.
I travel the day in promise in each moment and when all is said and done where I lay my head on my pillow I accept the sleep with knowledge and understanding it may be the final long sleep. If I wake it lets me be in one more or I have returned to that great unknown of the vast universe of energy.
