It is a good thing to learn new things; it is a good thing to allow for possibilities that the learned isn’t an end but a means to learn more; it is a good thing to be as open as possible; it is a good thing to allow light in so the darkness is less daunting …

I sometimes feel I have a solid grasp of things like karates Ken-po Go-kui and then I pick up another piece of knowledge that triggers a light switch illuminating more possibilities to understanding the darkness that blocks possibilities.

I came across a new, for me anyway, book that literally triggered an “oh crap” moment of enlightenment, “I-Ming, Lui and Cleary, Thomas. ‘Awakening the Tao.’”

Its first few renderings on the Tao talk of heaven and earth, sun and moon, and presented to me new possibilities of the meanings behind th go-kui.
