Fighting - It is Mostly Illegal

Blog Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

Fighting without the authority of society and government is illegal. The only authorized fighting that I am aware of as of this date is that which is entered into in the name of sport. All other fighting is illegal.

I quote, "A fight is a consensual and participatory CONFLICT between two or more people over - usually - non-material issues, i.e., not a resource thing but a process if you will. Often these conflicts are over social status and/or behavior. Typically, they are not meant to result in death or grave harm."

The only authorized and socially accepted use of force is backed by law and involved a duty to act for safety reasons, i.e., social safety. Usually that means the authorized person(s) must stop behaviors, restrain the other individual, or enforce compliance with the laws and this is scaled. Failure to comply will result in legal ramifications.

On combat, this is a mutually agreed upon conflict often authorized by society and its representatives, i.e., sanctioned by government in the use of the military and resources aimed at another government against their military and resource.

For the general social members of a society the use of force must adhere to the legal requirements of self-defense law. It is an act of ending unwarranted and/or illegal "immediate threat" of force against you or your family and even others (be careful with others because you do NOT have a duty to act).

There are some key elements one professional provides that can help one stay within the self-defense square or laws:
  • when the threat ends, you MUST STOP;
  • be prepared and able to articulate why you took the actions you did;
  • do not participate in the creation and escalation of the situation/incident.
You must train and practice with a mindset that meets and exceeds the requirements of self-defense law, the social effects violence incurs and the long term mental and physical and economical battle and ramifications from making use of self-defense as a defense. This and much more must be included in your self-protection training regardless of its form as this is critical in not fighting.
