Is There a Single Simple Way to Defend Oneself?

Blog Article/Post Caveat (Read First Please: Click the Link)

Humans have sought out that one definitive way to survive and that way is often unrealistic and totally diverged from the reality of both survival and conflict, i.e., aggression and violence. Most of us can already say that we have heard, read and viewed those who seek out simple answers to a very complex issue, survival against conflict, i.e., the modern way of survival over the old that was lions, tigers and bears oh my, trying to eat us out on the plains.

Is there a simple, simplistic, one-stop way to actually defend and protect oneself, family and tribe?

Yes, and No! The simplicity of a self-defense strategy is really simple and once you read this, visualize it and then apply it to what you already understand you will then see that to achieve this simple self-defense strategy will take a good deal of research, study, understanding and then training, practice and applicable ability to make it work. All of this MUST be on a recurring, regular and ongoing process because no program will work with just one class even if eight hours in duration AND even if the instruction is or were the very best the world has to offer. To defend yourself and protect your family takes dedication, sweat equity and concerted effort often with updates, changes and other such necessities.

As stated in their book, Mr. Vilos, i.e., Mitch and Evan, state that we all can follow their rules to defend, with deadly force if necessary, anywhere in the country, in any state, that you are traveling or reside in if you can meet all the conditions that follow:
  1. You are COMPLETELY without fault in either starting, continuing or escalating the conflict; AND
  2. You have REASONABLE and ACTUAL BELIEF that the force being threatened against you could cause serious bodily injury or death; AND
  3. You faced a threat that was imminent; AND
  4. You used only necessary force, not excessive force; AND
  5. before you use any force, you retreat until it is no longer safe for you to do so.
As Mr. Vilos states, “This is the common law rule that applied when a person was outside of his castle.”

Whether any state’s law of self-defense will give you any greater advantage than this bottom-line, common-law rule, will depend upon which jurisdiction you are in when you are attacked. This does not mean you can ignore the state’s laws so look at them carefully.

If any one of these five conditions is found to not apply in your defense, you will be prosecuted and jailed for your crime.

To make this simple answer work the practitioner who seeks adequate self-defense in society, whichever one is ruling that person or persons, you have to expand on the five and incorporate the city, county, state laws and statutes into how that supports and effects the five listed herein.

It seems to me, as I visualize it already like you would as proficient martial artists, that the five are good solid rules to live by, train for, and practice both in the dojo and out in a reality scenario-based adrenal stress-based model that would train us all to live and act and utilize skills appropriate to the five conditions listed.
