I am not a leading authority on any one discipline that I write about and teach, it is my hope and wish that with all the subjects I have studied it provides me an advantage point that I offer in as clear and cohesive writings as possible in introducing the matters in my materials. I hope to serve as one who inspires direction in the practitioner so they can go on to discover greater teachers and professionals that will build on this fundamental foundation. Find the authorities and synthesize a wholehearted and holistic concept, perception and belief that will not drive your practices but rather inspire them to evolve, grow and prosper. PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE: Dissonance and Biases

I have these 'moments' where thoughts jump in and speak to me, subconsciously that is, telling me of possibilities and other such things. That is when the notepad, on my mac, pops up and my fingers go clicking keys across the page trying to put that thought to ePaper. Here goes: 

Both are not meant to be a conscious effort because nature intended them to be instinct-like; knee-jerk triggered; responses much like the flight-fight response. As you can imagine we have to consider the concepts as to how they affect us in conflicts. 

I consider this concept as one of those extremely difficult ones to learn about because it involves turning the microscope inward to ourselves. We all as humans experience a constant influx of data that the mind, outside of our awareness mostly, sifts and separates into what is of value and what is pure garbage; sending the garbage into what I call ‘dev-null’. That is a type of black hole folks who use the Linux/Unix systems of computer technologies. Like a black hole in our universe, once something passed the event horizon and enters the hole it is impossible to get back and literally disappears forever. In the computer world the dev-null is that one place only found in Unix that tends to go and never return and is NEVER found even in the Internet Web both light and dark. 

The first step to learning about and understanding is to take a look at what dissonance and biases are in our most intriguing species. Once you know what they are then the second step is the art of introspection where we all work to perceive and observe our behaviors, spoken and perceived as word and body language, so that we may try to identify and work with words and actions that both benefit our skills and are a detriment to our skills. 

Knowing that my persona tends to irritate people means I now have a means to address that attitude so that when in public or dealing with people I can work to suppress that inclination making for a better socially acceptable character and personality. As a (inactive duty) Marine I learned how to get things done the Marine way and only later with a lot of work did I find a way to get things done using a more socially acceptable slightly less Marine way. 

Finding out these things within ourselves; learning how to be of a type of character and personality that doesn’t exactly trigger aggression and violence in this example; learning how to read others without too much bias and dissonance; learning to change the concepts triggered by others and ourselves is social situations and environments, etc., goes a long way to achieving the type of skills that will protect and defend in ways the promote, foster and validate actions such as avoidance and deescalation or to allow us to find time, OODA, to avoid or escape-n-evade entanglements with people and situations that benefit self, others and the social order of our cultural society. 

Knowing the verbiage along with its philosophy and cultural effects on a variety of folks when communications with both our bodies and words goes a long way to achieving valid and acceptable results, i.e., knowing for instance compliance and influence principles and learning to apply them in all areas of our lives.
