I just received my copy of Rory Miller's new book, "Facing Violence." He has taken all the complexities and plethora of information and put a fundamental version in this book.
When I first started to study the materials from Marc MacYoung's No Nonsense Self Defense site I found it so complete it boggled the mind yet felt for most who have not dedicated their time and efforts toward defense and martial arts it would be "overwhelming" leaving most novices unable to sort it out and allow it to soak in to their minds.
Rory Miller has taken all his experience, his expertise, and all he has gained from a lot of area's to include the complex area of self defense and provide us a concise and terse version that clarifies it to a manner that inspires additional research and study.
It provides a foundation for the novice and the experienced martial artist, to name just two forms/systems, and provides a fundamental "guide book" to build on current knowledge and ability as well as give the novice a point of reference BEFORE taking that self defense system.
Guess I am running on about it yet I find it of value and wanted to express my enthusiasm for his new book. Now that he has this one and "Meditations of Violence" available one only has to add in Marc MacYoung's books to really build the library of reference for a difficult, complex, convoluted and dangerous world of martial arts, self defense, and so on.
This book can be the cornerstone to self defense! |
