Negative Thinking

Hitei-teki [否定的] Kangae [考え]

Believe it or not, it has a purpose in our survival as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. It’s tantamount to believing you have to be on high alert to be aware in self-defense and we as a species just can’t maintain that level of alertness.

“Negative thinking is a part of being human. Over the course of our evolution, we naturally developed this trait as a survival strategy. Being aware of the negative potential in a situation or environment can help us become more aware of the issues that threaten our survival.” - unknown

In lieu of negative, I prefer the term “abnormal,” because you want to look for things that do not fit and that may point to anomalies that lead to conflict and/or violence. Maybe use the term, anomalies,” that trigger higher levels of diligence so one can assess potential dangers long before they are, “dangerous.”

Negative is fine yet a bit, “negative” by nature that could possibly influence one’s thinking processes producing more negative responses or actions or methods such as fighting over, “avoidance.”

You see, the way you think is a strong influence towards attitudes and actions. Thinking one has to “WIN,” triggers thoughts and actions to win which are different from actions to say, “avoid OR deescalate OR a more socially and LEGAL methodology.

Winning is great in a controlled competitive endeavor where others control and judge rules for the safety of participants, but when uncontrolled conflict and violence appear you must adhere to a set of totally different requirements or suffer possible grave harm and even death.

Mulling is good, mull this one over for a while!
