Mokusō

[黙想] silent meditation

Sitting seiza, silently contemplating, becoming aware; mokuso is about awareness of the present moment sensations allowing one to enter the dojo, and training, and “hold one’s attention or mental focus”, providing a tool to manage distracting thoughts and the incessant chattering of the monkey brain.

It is about training the mind to practice being fully engaged with physical tasks at hand and to be more in the moment.

All necessary to be fully engaged in each moment when in conflict or if in a violent confrontation.

Mokuso, is a basic fundamental method to training one’s mind to which the body will follow.

Once in the dojo and in the flow state of physical forms; the body movement requires focusing, applying intention and visualizing whereby success is achieved only when the mind, following the flow of the body, is able to maintain present moment focus.

When mind and body achieve balanced yin/yang, one enhances their true “spirit.” This is the, “Tao of Mokuso,” thereby morphing mind, body, and spirt … centered and complete!
