Let’s take a look at karates teachings on a fundamental level. Originally, karate was taught to the initiated. This means folks with no clue or experience with any physical endeavor. No sports πŸ€ πŸˆ ⚽️, no running or any physical oriented activities. This includes no foundation in violence at any physical level.


Karate basics were created to teach fundamental principles such as balance, structure or alignment, etc.

This is where the confusion begins because basics and kata are not about applying physical skills in violent situations. It’s about teaching the body and mind about themselves and how the body functions with emphasis on how that work when violence is involved.

Now that you have reviewed the above we can touch on, “economy of motion.” As alluded to in chambering to draw alllll the way back to the hip destroys one’s timing. Motion that is excessive take time and time is critical in violent encounters. There is a divergence in karate teachings that results in large time gaps when in the fight.


Understanding and training that keeps this in mind results in a final product that is fast, effective and reliable!
