Human Potential

To pursue Karate for its true and most important purpose: A vehicle for discovering and developing the human potential.

Really, I would beg to differ at least from a historical position. This philosophical perspective is only about a few decades old and came about as a point of sale in a commercial sense.

In its basest form, karate is or was all about violence. It was a means of security and protection both historically and to modern times.

It is neither a form for good or for evil, it just is and all the other stuff, as to potential, comes from the individuals desires, needs and beliefs.

To give karate that kind of power is about assigning these qualities to something that is and does not have sentient qualities - that is all on you and trying to equate that to karate simply allows you to lay blame on it in lieu of taking responsibility for yourself and self.

It is tantamount to saying firearms are the problem when, in fact, both are just the tools by which our species attain their wants, needs and desires.

Karate, as with sports like football, are wonderful concepts by which we teach qualities both self and social systems require, need and judge with to ensure that both survive and continue said species.

I am a Marine and that is just an institution with values taught to humans to achieve species social entity survival, our way of life that is simply a way toward survival.

In the end it is about self, about family and about the tribe, clan or social construct because it is about a collective with like beliefs, etc., that ensures the self, family and clan survival in a still violent environment.

So,, stop putting such labels on a non-sentient non-breathing and non-thinking “thing” and start taking responsibility of all you do, say and believe. If you lose a fight, it ain’t karate at fault, it IS YOU who missed something or failed to do what was necessary to achieve success!
