Why Philosophize?

Well, certain limitations arise as one reaches a certain stage, level and grade where it is best to leave certain teachings to the younger generation while as one in his or her winter years should meditate on things and experiences then create a philosophy that helps guide, mentor and lead those who would follow toward the proverbial enlightenment necessary to pass forward that which creates an evolving system, style or principled based way. 

For me, as certain changes occurred it required a considerable meditative ‘mulling over’ of the path that I follow and that lead away from the teaching of certain actions and actionable strategies and tactics to a more philosophical way that embraces accumulated knowledge, experiences and understandings of things like the way of the empty hand that fill in the voids often ignored in one's early career. Lets call it the manifestation of a reflected past to bring forth a evolutionary process for the future. Why the elderly in many cultures, especially that of the Okinawan's as example, are held in high esteem. If they can still stand on the dojo floor all the better and if they can't then proceed as an elder with advice, guidance and a philosophy that all can embrace at any stage or level along the path, the way. 

I believe that when Tatsuo-san of Isshinryu fame presented the early pioneers the goku-i along with his terse Zen-like Koan/saying; that it was meant to inspire such processes in learning, teaching, understanding and following a way, any way that fits the path of the individual. Why individual? Because "All bottles are good; they all serve a purpose," simply stated puts us as individuals much like the individual bottle on the table. 

I follow a path of philosophy, while remaining true to the path of action even if that action is visualized, mostly, in the present moment making what I do a more moving meditative practice. There comes a time, a time unique to each of us as individuals, where we need to adjust to conserve and preserve; leaving the rest to the young warriors; knowing with confidence our achieving this level of life means something to those who would follow and thus give true meaning to the title, "Sensei!"
