Marc MacYoung and his associates wrote on articulation something that gave me an "oh crap" moment in that, I paraphrase in my own words, when one has to articulate why they defended and protected themselves they must be able to articulate what is normal so that the explanation supports the why they articulate the abnormal, often appearing to the uninitiated as normal, that triggered the need to defend and protect in the manner they chose.
It comes down to others sitting in judgement, both in the legal system and in the social construct often presented as media events like news, who would perceive what you articulate as abnormal dangerous behavior that triggered your actions as actually being normal thus making it very difficult to convince them you did what you did within the self-defense defense.
