Ingredients of Martial Skills

The ingredients of skill studied in isolation, we get an inaccurate understanding of how they work together to construct methods. If we study a technique in isolation by testing and practicing it, we will not understand how it contributes to the creation of principled based methodologies. A given principle interacts with other principles during an action or reaction.

Principles of martial skills is likened to ingredients for baked goods, there are a variety of ingredients that span all sorts of baked products that alone are able to be used to bake anything and when combined in specific ways create the methods necessary to achieve an objective like chocolate chip cookies.

Cookie Ingredients: butter; sugar; eggs; salt; flour; baking soda; all ingredients for cookies. It depends on how you blend them together and the processes used to that objective that determines whether you get a chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal cookies or peanut butter cookies.

Martial Principles: Theory, Physiokinetic's, Techniques, and Philosophies. All like principles that apply to all martial disciplines and when combined in a variety of ways produce methodologies that manifest into particular methods that take advantage of the adversaries application of principles, etc.

Physical Martial Principles: Breathing, posture, triangle guard, centerline, primary gate, spinal alignment, axis, minor axis, structure, heaviness, relaxation, wave energy, convergence, centeredness, triangulation point, the dynamic sphere, body-mind, void, centripetal force, centrifugal force, sequential locking and sequential relaxation, peripheral vision, tactile sensitivity, rooting, attack hubs, attack posture, and (impacts, drives (pushes), pulls, twists, takedowns/throws and compression).

If a person is driven toward a physical confrontation then how that person is able to construct appropriate situational methodologies and methods using the physical martial principles are measured, mixed and cooked up to create the appropriate methods necessary to stop the attacker. It literally creates and constructs from these limited yet complete set of ingredients, principles, to achieve an unknown unknown that is the chaos of violence outside the parameters of justified legal sport competitions, etc.
