Every century or so an individual steps past the status quo to "Do" something extraordinary.
In ancient China it was Sun Tzu's "Art of War, " then it was a few hundred years ago that a lone Japanese Swordsman who retired to a cave and wrote his treatise on war called the "Book of Five Rings."
In Europe it was Machiavelli and Clausewitz who wrote their "Art of War."
Now, in the 20th century here in the new America's we have our modern master strategist who created his tome's of "Pattern of Conflict," and other writings that are often referred to as simply, "Boyd's Cycle or the OODA Loop."
It took Colonel John R. Boyd, USAF (Deceased) an entire career in the Air Force as well as his entire life in retirement to create his "Art of War!"
Seldom given credit, an unknown to almost every one except a few who knew him or worked with him on his road of discovery and who is responsible for changing the modern military resulting in thousands of saved lives.
His treatise on war, like all the other luminaries mentioned, has been used to create winning strategies in life, in competitions, in business and especially in war. Yet, his treatise is quoted and his strategies and tactics used without a whisper of his name.
Yes, this is my opinion as an opinionated person :-)
I think we could have a good conversation about karate.
