This is really an honor, the Okinawan Isshinryu Association has eMailed me the honor of being tenth dan, tenth degree black belt, master of the Isshinryu Okinawan Karate system.
When most Westerners are self-promoting this distinction is rarely awarded to an American Practitioner and that makes it most honorable.
I wish to convey my sincerest appreciation to the Okinawan Isshinryu Association based at the Honbu Dojo Urama Okinawa Japan for this prestigious award or rank.
Not only did they provide me a lovely certificate but they honored me with a special kuro-obi but with distinct colors to represent this honor and the culture of Western Marines with emphasis on the eagle, globe and anchor, i.e., the knot forms an eagle, the belt is composed of country symbols for the entire world and the obi itself was created to appear like a rope to an anchor.
This is truly an honor!
