Perceived Reality

We have this internal model of perceived reality, a reality that is often different from anyone else's reality. We as humans can sometimes fool ourselves into believing something that is not real or reality. Take one such martial artists who at one time was well known for his expertise or mastery of striking vital points but drifted into a world or reality that promotes the use of "ki" or energy to perform physical feats without using physical contact.

Ki or Chi is an energy but that energy in a nutshell is merely the harnessing of proper balance of the body and mind, i.e. body structure, power applications, body alignments, conditioning, etc. to express the most power, speed, etc. in a physical manner. Much of this is a mind-body equilibrium that is proper application of fundamental principles of martial systems. IT requires PHYSICAL contact  to work, it is NOT projected through space.

Then again that is his perceived reality and in a sense it is real - for him and his followers. If he can persuade others to believe he can do it then he can but it is still not KI projection, it is mind-influencing mass hypnosis of a kind.

Perceived reality is dependent on a variety of factors, i.e. within the limitations of our lives, our bodies and our minds as perceived and influenced by the times in which we live and are raised, the culture, ethnic and belief systems in which we lived and are living, our power relations with others, the group and society, the perceptions we have as to the perceptions of others regarding truth and accurate facts, our internal and external environments and our perceptions of movement; perceptions of body language; perceptions of facial expressions; perceptions of tone and intonation, etc.
