Symbolism of Isshinryu no Megami

Megami sits poised amid the power of the ocean displaying a resonance with the natural movements of wind and water. Her display of immense calm and balance in the midst of the whirling waves. The ocean within which she sits is the surging waves of defense and attack that arise, and into which they again dissolve. Her resolve and kamae remain balanced as the surges attack and retract, i.e. hard on breaking toward her and soft as they recede preparing for the next flow of waves.

The ocean symbolizes both external, by the action of the oceans surface, and internal, by the actions of that which occurs below the surface. Both have an effect on the actions of the surface and all that connects to that surface be in megami, the air/winds and the sky or heavens above affecting the path which the dragon follows as well as the view of the stars above, i.e. the stars as they represent the masters or the systems that created Isshinryu.

The position of the hands symbolize the movement of the tai chi, yin-yang, by the natural positioning of one hand high and forward, the other back and low.
