Say What You Mean-Mean What You Say

Much like knowledge and application of knowledge this maxim seems a most difficult trait to implement let alone master. Human's for survival purposes most often do not say what they mean and mean what they say.

It appears our natural instinct is to deny, refute or refuse to accept, believe or admit certain things and actions. We may tend to assume when asked or confronted by some incident to "back off." It is a bit like our minds telling us as we walk a path in the woods the dark twisty long rope like thing is a snake, we jump back away from danger and then discover our mind fooled us as it was just a stick.

It is a goal for humans in a society as well as a karate-ka in a dojo to always say what you mean and mean what you say. There are rules even for this somewhat strict edict. Sometimes saying and meaning what you say can get you head thumped or can get you a "beat down." Sometimes it is best to consider what your saying, i.e. is it kind? is it true? and most important is it necessary?

If you cannot mean and act on what you say then maybe it is time to keep the mouth closed and the comments to self but if you can honestly say yes to all three questions as it regards both you and  the other person then say it but say it in context with regard to how it would be accepted.

Convoluted you say? Why yes my padawan, all things in life are convoluted, confusing and open to misinterpretation. It is why it might be beneficial to teach the mind as well as the body for body-mind cohesion, holistic and open mindedness.

How many of us has let our alligator mouth over ride our hummingbird ass to get into deep doo-doo? Is it wise to even consider the ability to defend words if those words result in violence? How often has ego and pride for things you cannot hold in your hand lead us down the monkey driven path of violence?
