Test for One Week Duration

I know sometimes a test for grade, level, promotion in martial arts can take a whole day. In my case it was a recurring, ongoing event while training in the dojo interspersed from time to time with aggressive, intensive and chaotic sessions where you never knew if it was a promotion time or not - always tested, daily. Today I read the article indicated below in the bibliography and thought to myself, "Self, this seems like a good way to do a test in a formal manner."

Here is an excerpt from the article describing the test week:

“It allowed them to develop their skills to a point where we could test them. We’re very traditional and want people to have their skills and be mature enough,” Palos said. “The culmination of their training was a final week of testing. Every night, they had to be in front of black belts. On the spot, we could call out anything and ask questions; they sparred some … tested their physical fitness — it is very strenuous.”

I will assume that when the state every night, they mean at least every single night say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and possibly a Saturday and Sunday since many dojo teach all week long. If I were running a full time dojo I would consider this as an extension of how I was tested in my early kyu grade to black belt days. I wouldn't notify but just do a week long intensive shugyo session and if certain parties warranted it then surprise on that following week first session - promotion time, oh-rahhhh.

What do all of you think?
