Strength

Ted Truscott of the Animal List sent a link today concerning strength which I reviewed and felt was relevant to the fundamental principles of martial systems explanation as to power and strength. I am providing that link for your review, see bibliography.

Strength is intricate to the universal application of fundamental principles to the martial systems we practice. Although not directly referenced in any one particular principle many of them rely on the combination of the bodies strength through alignment, structure, etc. which are predicated upon the bodies stability through strength such as muscles, ligaments, and tendons. To understand all the aspects of the principles includes the participants efforts in digging beyond what is presented and into the depths of research to know and apply the strategies and tactics to achieve the greatest results of training.

The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. It can also be said that the chain in its entirety depends upon each link and determining the chain's use in all its applications determines the strongest link - in the body for karate think tendon strength and how that link supports the rest - its foundation.
