To See, To Hear, To Listen Actively, To Observe, and to subject what they have seen, heard, and observed to analysis. To develop a method of reasoning and a method of scientific investigation. We should educate to think. The association and exchange of ideas. To study for the love of learning, wanting to know and understand.
Remember, for the brain to work, to get the most out of it, you have to have put something in it first! The paths to knowledge are many. Maybe that is why the Asian's call such endeavors the Way, the Path, the Road, etc. I have come to believe that education, the acquisition of knowledge, is of primary importance in life and more so in this physical practice that can be a brutal one of karate/karate-do.
I find that as I increase my level of knowledge that more clarity of life ensues. Each time I read something new or with a slightly different spin on it the mind just seems to flash this picture to me that inspires me to write and explore, etc. I can only stress that any practitioner who glosses over the basics and fundamentals is hurting no one but themselves and that returning to the foundation of the martial systems is crucial to moving forward.
This brings me back to my parallel blog, i.e. the one for the "ken-po goku-i" for to increase your knowledge base you have to be willing to actively "see, hear, feel, and focus awareness" on all the data and mine out the stuff that is true, accurate, and pertinent to you the individual. Forget whether it fits into the tribe, i.e. others validation, as that is not important to you. You can adjust and adhere to the tribes way and processes but still install the uniqueness of yourself in your knowledge and practice.
Remember, even if the tribe to which you want to belong disagrees with you does not make you wrong nor does it make you right. The rubber meets the road here by how open and aware you are to accept it all and then use it adequately to achieve self progress and then provide fluidity to achieve it with the group/tribe.
To much truth and information gets shoved to the side merely because one who perceives it as threatening their beliefs pushes it aside when in reality it may even cause a shift in thought more beneficial than one may imagine.
Thanks for listening (reading :-)!
